i just think the title of this one rocks. it sounds like a song title or a bukowski poem. putting the 'i was' in there changes EVERYTHING, makes you HAVE to see the photo, want to climb into the photo, which is great, too.
Thanks -- that climbing into the photo feeling is exactly what I was going for.
Funny, though: the title just came to me and at the time I was thinking, "Is this a quote from a short story or novel or poem I read and it has just come bubbling out of some recess of my brain?" I've always harbored a desire to write, but I've always been afraid that I would unconsciously plagiarize someone. Phrases/pairings or words just stick in my mind like a weird mantra (or hypnotic suggestion).
So. I just googled "I was crawling on my hands and knees" and didn't didn't any specific literary reference, but did come across people who were
a. remembering WWII b. heading to a toilet to vomit c. in a cave d. dreaming about a desert e. giving birth
all super great connotations/ connections. i think you should explore your writing. it in so many ways goes hand in hand with the photographing of things. besides, all writers are merely re-writing ideas that have already been written. you should do it, too. esp. if this title is any hint into your potential word-stringing power/ prowess. i think a third blog is in order, even if no else can see it.
